Toray Advanced Materials Korea, led by CEO Kim Young-seop, has launched DeoShield, a deodorizing functional yarn, as the company moves to strengthen its position in the functional textile market ahead of summer.

DeoShield is designed to manage body odor in everyday settings year-round, not just during the sweat-heavy summer months. The deodorizing function is built directly into the yarn, effectively suppressing the compounds responsible for odor.

"It offers outstanding durability, maintaining its functional properties even after repeated washing," the company said. "This delivers a more hygienic and fresh wearing experience."

The company added that DeoShield can be blended with Snowren, its cooling yarn introduced last year, depending on the intended end product. When combined, the two yarns deliver both cooling and comfort properties simultaneously, making the material more versatile as a functional summer fabric.

"With DeoShield, we have expanded our product lineup beyond existing cooling pads and bedding materials to include deodorizing functional fabrics," a Toray Advanced Materials Korea official said. "We will provide differentiated customer value through the expansion of high-performance materials."
