Samsung is bringing together its biotech R&D capabilities and medical infrastructure to build a mega-platform for AI-driven next-generation drug target discovery and ultra-precision medical technology development.

Samsung Bioepis said Sunday it signed a joint research agreement with Samsung Medical Center to secure next-generation technology capabilities in the biomedical field. The signing ceremony was held May 29 at the Samsung Bioepis headquarters in Songdo, Incheon, and was attended by Samsung Bioepis President Kim Kyung-ah and Samsung Medical Center Director Park Seung-woo.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will form a joint consultative body and a research advisory committee. They will carry out a range of innovative biotech research projects together through the end of 2030 — a collaboration spanning roughly four and a half years.

Samsung Bioepis plans to leverage the extensive clinical and medical data accumulated by Samsung Medical Center to develop AI-powered, personalized patient treatment technologies. The company also intends to build a high-value drug target discovery platform and use the resulting research data to advance drug development — including next-generation anticancer modalities such as antibody-drug conjugates, or ADCs — and to shape its global clinical strategy.

"This agreement will serve as the foundation for advancing Samsung's differentiated healthcare ecosystem, addressing patients' unmet medical needs and leading technological innovation," Kim said. "We will work with Samsung Medical Center to achieve meaningful research outcomes that contribute to better lives for patients."

Park said the future of medicine lies in realizing ultra-precision care tailored to each individual patient. "We will make this collaboration with Samsung Bioepis a success, bringing the era of future medicine one step closer and helping Korean biomedical innovation reach the world," he said.
