The North Gyeongsang Culture and Tourism Corporation announced Sunday that it will hold the "2026 North Gyeongsang Baekdudaegan Trail6 Challenge" beginning June 20, in partnership with North Gyeongsang Province, drawing on the mountain forests and tourism resources of the Baekdudaegan range.

Now in its second year, the event expands on last year's well-received debut with a relay-format trail program that lets participants experience both the natural scenery of the North Gyeongsang section of the Baekdudaegan and the distinct character of each host region.

The challenge will move through six cities and counties along the Baekdudaegan corridor in relay fashion, opening in Sangju on June 20 and continuing through Gimcheon, Mungyeong, Bonghwa, Yeongju and Yecheon.

This year the course has been split into two tiers to accommodate a wider range of participants — a beginner-to-intermediate route of roughly 10 to 14 kilometers and an advanced route of 14 to 20 kilometers.

The full schedule runs as follows: Sangju on June 20, Gimcheon on Sept. 19, Mungyeong on Oct. 3, Bonghwa on Oct. 10, Yeongju on Oct. 24, and Yecheon on Oct. 31.

Participants may register either as individual entrants or through a package option.

"Through last year's inaugural event, we confirmed the strong potential and public interest in Baekdudaegan trail tourism," said Kim Nam-il, president of the corporation. "This year we will build an even more robust program and develop the challenge into the defining forest tourism brand event for North Gyeongsang Province."
