The "2026 Seocho AI Strategy Forum" will be held June 25 at the Seocho AICT Excellence Enterprise Center; registration opens June 1. A five-member panel of legal, policy and industry experts will focus on understanding the AI Basic Act and corporate response strategies.
Seoul's Seocho-gu will open registration June 1 for the "2026 Seocho AI Strategy Forum," set to be held June 25 at the conference hall of the Seocho AICT Excellence Enterprise Center.
The forum is themed "Understanding the AI Basic Act and Practical Response" and is designed to help AI companies, startups and practitioners in the district better understand the legislation and strengthen their on-the-ground readiness, following the full enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence Basic Act on Jan. 22 this year.
Seocho-gu serves as a key hub for the AI industry, anchored by the "Yangjae AI Special Zone" covering the Yangjae and Umyeon areas. The district has been steadily expanding industry-academia-research-government cooperation and corporate support policy through its "Seocho AI Innovation Network."
The forum is part of that broader strategic initiative to strengthen collaboration among public agencies, private companies and research institutions amid a rapidly shifting AI industry landscape, and to expand practical, field-centered support.
Running from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 25, the forum will accommodate approximately 100 participants, including tenant companies of the Seocho AICT Excellence Enterprise Center and Seoul AI Hub, local startups, related organizations and civil servants. The program goes beyond a simple explanation of the law, covering an analysis of the AI Basic Act's key provisions, corporate and startup response strategies, industry-specific compliance considerations, and a Q&A and practical consulting session.
Five experts in AI policy and industry will join as panelists: Bae Dong-seok and Kwak Jun-ho, team leaders at the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA); Choi Min-seok, division head at the ETRI AI Safety Institute (ETRI AISI); Kim Hyeong-jun, center director at the National Information Society Agency (NIA); and Moon Jeong-wook, division head at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI). They will share guidance on how organizations should respond to the AI Basic Act's enforcement and discuss its policy implications.
Registration opens June 1 and can be completed by scanning the QR code on the forum poster to fill out the application form.
A district official said the forum is expected to serve as "a support platform that provides the most practical information needed on the ground and helps companies build their response capabilities," adding that the district will "continue to expand policy support and cooperative networks that reflect the voices of the AI industry and back corporate growth and innovation."
