Pilot operations begin May 4, official opening set for June 1, with five locally tailored health programs
Geumcheon-gu launched pilot operations of the Hannae Community Health Center on Sunday, with an official opening scheduled for June 1.
Geumcheon-gu (district mayor Yoo Sung-hoon) is building an integrated health management system centered on residents' daily lives, launching pilot operations of the Hannae Community Health Center from May 4, with an official opening on June 1.
The center occupies the second and third floors of the Geumcheon Hannae Eum Center (69-15 Hannaero), a mixed-use complex jointly built by the Korea Land and Housing Corp. (LH) and Geumcheon-gu, with a total floor area of 649.88 square meters.
The surrounding area has long lacked adequate medical facilities and has a high proportion of vulnerable residents, generating consistent demand for expanded public health infrastructure. The district said it expects the new center to help close health disparities between neighborhoods and improve residents' quality of life.
The second floor houses a health management center — equipped with a physician consultation room, physical therapy room and measurement room — alongside a healthy-aging center. The third floor features a multipurpose room and a residents' exercise room. A community service office, day care center and shared-living facility are located in the same building, enabling integrated delivery of health and welfare services.
The center will pursue five priority programs tailored to the area's needs. The first focuses on preventing and managing chronic disease: metabolic syndrome screenings and specialist health consultations will enable early detection, while a "Health Climb" class for patients already living with chronic conditions and a fitness program built around smart physical assessments will provide structured ongoing care.
The healthy-aging center will offer integrated home-visit health management, with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dietitians and exercise specialists making direct house calls. The service covers health consultations, medication guidance, nutritional management and rehabilitation exercise — all aimed at preventing the worsening of chronic conditions and supporting physical recovery.
Through its healthy-aging program, the center will operate a Geumcheon-style "Health and Longevity School," offering a standing curriculum that integrates exercise, nutrition and lifestyle improvement. Alongside this, expert health lectures and a walking self-help group will strengthen residents' capacity to manage their own health.
A community-based rehabilitation program will run the physical therapy room and provide personalized rehabilitation and exercise plans to help residents recover physical function and return to daily life.
The center also plans to build a community health safety net through outreach health management days and partnerships with related organizations, offering mental health counseling, early dementia screening and CPR education.
"We expect the Hannae Community Health Center to establish itself as an integrated health management hub centered on small living zones — a reliable health safety net for the community," a district official said. "We will look after the health of every resident with care and work toward making Geumcheon a healthy city where no neighbor is left behind."
