The 20th Cheongsong Apple Festival is drawing crowds with a lineup of hands-on programs and performances, keeping the spirit of one of South Korea's signature autumn festivals alive. The event, which opened Wednesday under the theme "Right Now, Cheongsong! Dyed in Apples," runs through Sunday at the Hyeonbiam area along Yongjeoncheon Stream in Cheongsong-eup.

Participatory programs have proven especially popular, including an apple-themed triathlon and a golden-apple treasure hunt. On Friday, a celebratory concert featuring performers Lee Chan-won and Park Gu-yun lifted the festival atmosphere. On Saturday, a Cheongsong apple parade and a national flower-rope weaving competition are scheduled, while Sunday will close out the festival with a Black Eagles air show and a fireworks display.

Cheongsong-gun Mayor Yun Gyeong-hui said the festival is designed to showcase the quality of Cheongsong apples and the region's appeal, and expressed hope that many visitors would come to enjoy the various experiences and performances and make lasting memories.
