The North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly held a legislative academy Friday at the assembly's multipurpose hall to strengthen members' capacity for administrative audits and budget reviews.
The training was designed to build the practical skills needed for administrative audits and the main budget review, while reinforcing the assembly's oversight and monitoring role over provincial administration.
Sessions covered audit strategies and key points of focus, major case studies related to audits and investigations, strategies for cutting or increasing budget items and establishing new expenditure categories, and techniques for analyzing and reviewing the main budget.
The academy drew on audit and budget review cases from other local assemblies to examine problems in project implementation and the appropriateness of budget allocations. It also shared concrete analytical methods and practical know-how that members can apply in the field.
Assembly Speaker Kim Hui-su said administrative audits and budget reviews are "crucial legislative activities that reflect the voices of provincial residents in governance and ensure local finances are managed efficiently," adding that the training would "serve as an opportunity to deepen lawmakers' expertise and strengthen their practical capacity for legislative work."
