Samyang Foods posted its best-ever quarterly earnings in the third quarter of this year, with double-digit growth in both sales and operating profit driven by a sharp rise in overseas revenue.

The company disclosed Friday that its third-quarter consolidated sales reached 791.8 billion won ($590 million) and operating profit came in at 196.2 billion won, up 25.3 percent and 49.9 percent, respectively, from the same period a year earlier.

Overseas markets led the growth. Third-quarter overseas sales rose 29.4 percent year-on-year to 660.8 billion won, fueled by an expansion of global retail networks and improved operational efficiency at domestic production facilities, including the Miryang factory. The flagship Buldak brand also maintained its momentum after cumulative sales surpassed 10 billion units in the second quarter.

By region, the United States and China stood out. Sales from the US subsidiary climbed 36.6 percent year-on-year to 212.5 billion won, supported by expanded placement in major retail channels such as Walmart and growing sales to Mexico. The China subsidiary broadened its distribution network through snack channels, lifting sales 13.2 percent to 208.9 billion won. European sales also rose 7.8 percent to 86.9 billion won on stronger product demand.

Profitability improved as well. The third-quarter operating profit margin stood at 24.8 percent, keeping the figure above 20 percent for seven consecutive quarters. The improvement reflected better sales-channel coverage in key markets and the overall increase in revenue.

"We sustained export growth by expanding our distribution networks in key markets such as the United States and China," a Samyang Foods official said. "We plan to improve operational efficiency at domestic production bases, including the Miryang factory, and systematize our global distribution infrastructure to reliably meet overseas demand."
