Yeungnam University of Science and Technology took high school students on an industry tour Thursday at Amco Bay New Energy Co. in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, to deepen their understanding of the secondary battery sector and strengthen their career and employment readiness.
The event, organized as part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's customized employment service project for high school students, drew about 90 participants — including university President Lee Jae-yong, students and teachers who attended a recruitment briefing.
Participants heard from the company's human resources staff about its key businesses, production status, the secondary battery industry outlook and on-site job competencies, and shared information on industry characteristics and employment opportunities.
They then toured the factory to observe major production facilities and working conditions firsthand, gaining a clearer picture of what the industry looks like on the ground.
The visit is particularly significant as the first field activity to follow an MOU on industry-academia cooperation and work-study program development that Yeungnam University of Science and Technology and Amco Bay New Energy signed last month.
Building on the event, the university plans to strengthen company-tailored education, work-study programs, job information services and employment linkages, while expanding field-centered education that reflects industry needs.
"I hope this factory visit gave students a solid understanding of companies and job roles, and served as an opportunity for them to set clear employment goals and systematically build the competencies they need," university President Lee Jae-yong said.
