Daegu Cyber University and the Korean Society of Animal Health signed a memorandum of understanding at Silla University on Sunday to promote educational and academic exchange and mutual development, the university announced Friday.

The agreement aims to build a cooperative framework drawing on each institution's expertise and professional networks in education and academia, with the goal of expanding training opportunities and developing specialists in the companion animal sector.

Under the MOU, the two institutions will jointly develop education and training programs, hold collaborative research projects and academic seminars, offer industry-academia scholarship grants to society members who enroll at Daegu Cyber University, and support mutual promotional activities.

Daegu Cyber University also plans to establish a companion animal industry department starting in the 2027 academic year, offering a curriculum covering companion animal care, behavior, training and related industries.

"We hope this agreement will further invigorate education and academic exchange in the companion animal field," Daegu Cyber University President Lee Geun-yong said. "We ask for the Korean Society of Animal Health's attention and active promotional support to help the new companion animal industry department launch successfully and grow when it opens in the 2027 academic year."

Lee Shin-ho, president of the Korean Society of Animal Health and a professor in the department of special animals at Gongju National University, said the two organizations would leverage their combined expertise and professional networks to energize education and academic research in the companion animal field and continue working together to train specialists and advance the industry.
