Kim Seon-ho to move to department store division support unit
Shinsegae Group announced Friday that it has appointed President Lee Seok-gu as the new head of its department store division.
Lee will retain his post as CEO of Shinsegae DF while concurrently serving as department store division head, according to the group. Executive Vice President Kim Seon-ho will take charge of the department store division's support unit.
Born in 1949, Lee graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in business administration and joined Samsung C&T in 1975. He rose to senior managing director of Shinsegae's department store division support unit in 1999, then served as executive vice president of E-mart's support unit in 2001, CEO of Joseon Hotel in 2002 and CEO of Starbucks Coffee Korea in 2007.
He went on to serve as president and CEO of Shinsegae International's JAJU business division in 2020, head of Shinsegae's new growth promotion committee in 2022 and president and CEO of Shinsegae Live Shopping in 2023. He has been serving as president and CEO of Shinsegae DF since September last year.
Shinsegae Group said the appointment was made to strengthen audit functions within the department store division, establish a systems-based management framework and improve overall governance. "Through this personnel change, we will further reinforce the company's management structure, enhance functional expertise and support sustainable growth," a Shinsegae official said. "We will continue to solidify trust with the market and our customers."
