The Daegu city government and the Daegu Merchants Federation announced Friday that they will hold customer appreciation events at traditional markets across the city for 10 days through Nov. 15 as part of the 2026 Korea Grand Festival.
The Korea Grand Festival is a nationwide consumer festival in which government ministries and more than 40,000 companies participate to boost domestic demand and encourage local spending.
Twenty traditional markets in Daegu will take part in the events, including Gyodong Market, Seonam Market, Gwanmun Sangga Market, Waryong Market, Dalseo Market, Wolbae Market and Paldal New Market.
Each market will designate one day during the festival period to give away gifts — such as ramyun packets and hand cream — to customers who spend above a set amount.
Alongside the market appreciation events, the city will also offer a range of consumer incentive programs, including cultural performances in alley commercial districts, a stamp tour, and discount events on local specialty products and local food.
During the festival period, Daegu-ro Pay users will receive an additional 5 percent cashback on their payments. Customers who already use the 10 percent discount top-up option and pay at businesses designated as fair-price establishments can receive up to 20 percent in total benefits, including the existing 5 percent cashback at those establishments.
"We hope this event gives citizens a chance to shop smartly and enjoy themselves, while also giving merchants an opportunity to boost sales," said Park Ki-hwan, director of the Daegu city government's economy bureau.
