Hanwha Vision announced Friday that four of its cloud services have passed the SOC (System and Organization Controls) 2 Type 2 global security audit standard.

SOC2 is an internal control audit framework for service organizations established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Independent auditors use it to verify whether companies handling customer data are managing that data securely. Type 1 assesses whether the design of controls at a specific point in time is appropriate, while Type 2 evaluates whether those controls operated effectively over a defined period.

Hanwha Vision passed the Type 1 certification in May and subsequently underwent a six-month evaluation of its overall cloud service operations before clearing the Type 2 standard.

The four services covered by the audit are Cloud Portal, a cloud platform; OnCloud, a video surveillance service; OnCAFE, an access control service; and HealthPro, a device management service.

Hanwha Vision embedded security into its cloud infrastructure from the design stage and applied high security standards across its development and operations processes. Through these efforts, the company demonstrated the reliability of its cloud security and operations by satisfying three evaluation criteria: security, availability and confidentiality.

Building on this verified reliability, Hanwha Vision plans to expand its cloud-based video security solution business into global markets.

"Passing the SOC2 Type 2 audit is highly significant in that it has strengthened customer trust in our overall cloud services," a Hanwha Vision official said. "We will continue working to build a robust security and operations framework."
