Dalseo-gu in Daegu announced Thursday that District Mayor Kim Yong-pan delivered a special lecture to about 100 students from the College of Social Sciences at Keimyung University's Seongeo Campus, speaking on the theme "A single tree cannot make a forest."

The lecture, held Thursday at the invitation of Keimyung University's College of Social Sciences, was organized to share life wisdom with university students — the future leaders of society — and to convey the value of living and growing together within a community.

Kim drew on decades of public service and hands-on administrative experience to share a personal philosophy, speaking candidly about the attitudes and outlook young people need to cultivate in life.

Kim particularly emphasized the importance of having goals and dreams, saying, "A person with a goal is diligent, and a person with a dream is happy."

Kim urged the students to believe in their own potential, keep pushing themselves, and grow together through mutual respect and cooperation.

"Just as individual trees come together to form a dense forest, our society can create greater value when we respect and cooperate with one another," Kim said. "I hope each of you will pursue your own dreams and philosophy with confidence, and find greater happiness and growth through a life lived together."
