The leadership of DigitalX, the digital asset exchange acquired by Mirae Asset Group, is set to change hands. The group has designated Noh Yong-woo, a former head of the group risk management division at Mirae Asset Securities, as the incoming chief executive, accelerating the restructuring of the exchange under Mirae Asset's management.

Mirae Asset Group and DigitalX announced an organizational reshuffle and executive appointments Thursday, naming Noh, a senior vice president at Mirae Asset Securities' innovation promotion unit, as CEO designate. DigitalX said Noh's formal appointment will follow completion of a virtual asset business operator change notification to the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU), along with approval at a shareholder meeting and a board meeting.

Born in 1968, Noh graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics in 1995. Noh served as head of the management innovation division at Mirae Asset Securities from November 2021 to October 2022, then led the group risk management division from November 2022 to October last year. Since November last year, Noh has been working in the company's innovation promotion unit.

The leadership change is the first since Mirae Asset Group completed its acquisition of DigitalX. The group secured a 97.15 percent stake in the exchange — then known as Korbit — through its affiliate Mirae Asset Consulting this year, gaining management control. The exchange subsequently rebranded as DigitalX in August and launched a rights offering worth about 50 billion won ($37.3 million) as part of a broader business overhaul.

Meanwhile, current CEO Oh Se-jin took office in January 2020 and was reappointed at the end of last year after successive terms, with the tenure originally set to run through the end of 2028. Oh recently announced a resignation for personal reasons.
