Coupang Inc posted its third consecutive quarterly loss, yet its estimated payment volume hit an all-time high last month, according to a new survey.

WiseApp·Retail, an analytics firm that tracks real-time app and payment data, said Thursday that a sample survey of Korean credit and debit card transactions showed Coupang Inc's estimated payment amount reached 6.2 trillion won ($4.63 billion) in October.

That figure is up 5.1 percent from 5.9 trillion won in the same month last year and surpasses the previous record of 6.13 trillion won set in July by 1.3 percent — a new all-time high just three months after the last one.

Coupang Eats also continued its growth streak. The food delivery service logged an estimated payment amount of 1.19 trillion won last month, up 12.6 percent from a year earlier.

The survey estimates amounts paid by Korean consumers using credit and debit cards on each service, based on information shown in their transaction records. Payments made via bank transfer, cash or gift certificates are not included.

Meanwhile, Coupang Inc disclosed in a consolidated earnings report filed with the SEC on Wednesday that third-quarter sales rose 11 percent year-on-year to 14.22 trillion won, but the company swung to a loss with an operating loss of 642.3 billion won. Cumulative operating losses for the first three quarters reached 1.83 trillion won. The results were weighed down by a 624.7 billion won fine related to a personal data breach and 354 billion won in losses from a fire at its Incheon logistics center.
