A suspect in their 30s who was sentenced to seven years in prison for breaking into the home of actor Nana, 35, whose real name is Im Jin-a, and threatening her and her mother at knifepoint has now been indicted on charges of stealing wine worth 23 million won ($17,200). The new charges come on top of a separate indictment for filing a false complaint against Nana.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office's Criminal Division 1 indicted the suspect, identified only as A, twice on theft charges between August and October, according to Star Today on Wednesday.

A is accused of stealing approximately 23 million won worth of wine from a hypermarket in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on about 10 occasions in November last year.

The wine theft allegations had already come up during the trial over the break-in at Nana's home.

Prosecutors, who sought a 10-year sentence for A, cited a history of multiple criminal convictions. They also mentioned the alleged theft of premium wine and noted that the paring knife believed to have been used in the home invasion was also sold at the same hypermarket.

"In more than 20 years, a prosecutor meets tens of thousands of criminals and many people, but it is rare to encounter someone who has committed such a wide variety of crimes as the defendant," prosecutors said.

A was arrested and indicted after breaking into Nana's home in November last year, threatening her and her mother with a weapon and demanding valuables.

A was sentenced to seven years in prison at trial, and the same sentence was upheld at an appeals hearing on Oct. 22. A has since appealed to the Supreme Court, where the case is now pending.

During the proceedings, A filed a complaint against Nana for attempted murder and aggravated assault, claiming to have been injured in a physical altercation.

Police determined that Nana had acted in self-defense and declined to refer the case to prosecutors in January. Nana subsequently filed a counter-complaint against A for filing a false report.

A was indicted without detention on charges of filing a false complaint on Sept. 16. The wine theft case and the false-complaint case have since been consolidated, with the first hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
