Front and rear 20-inch sizes approved
Low rolling resistance and high grip
'AeroDimple' structure applied to tire sidewall
Reduces air drag and cuts energy consumption
Continental Tire announced Thursday it will supply its summer tire EcoContact 7 S as original equipment for Volvo's new all-electric EX60.
Both approved sizes are 20-inch, with a 235/55R20 fitted to the front axle and a 255/50R20 to the rear.
The EcoContact 7 S is a sportier variant of the EcoContact 7, combining low rolling resistance, extended range and a quiet ride. It is engineered for enhanced wet-road grip and handling, delivering agile and precise steering response. An "EV-Compatible" logo on the sidewall identifies it as a product designed for electric vehicles.
Continental optimized the rubber compound and tire structure to minimize rolling resistance and improve driving efficiency. The company also applied its AeroDimple technology — inspired by the dimpled surface of a golf ball — to the sidewall. The pattern reduces turbulence behind the tire during driving, lowering aerodynamic drag and cutting energy consumption.
A tread pattern designed to reduce cabin noise was also incorporated, particularly targeting low-speed urban driving where tire noise is most noticeable. The tire also lowers exterior noise transmitted to the surrounding environment, minimizing its acoustic impact on pedestrians and bystanders.
"Electric vehicles demand tires that balance driving efficiency and quietness with stable grip and handling," said Niko Kyriazopoulos, head of the replacement tire division at Continental Tire Korea. "Supplying original equipment tires for the Volvo EX60 is a testament to those strengths. We will continue developing tires tailored to the characteristics of diverse vehicles and driving conditions."
Meanwhile, Continental Tire was ranked first in the newly established imported tire category of the 2026 Korean Standards Quality Excellence Index, a survey conducted by the Korean Standards Association.
