Honored for contributions to advanced materials development and supply chain expansion

Kim Young-sup, president and CEO of Toray Advanced Materials Korea, received an industrial merit award at the Foreign Companies Day ceremony held Tuesday at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas.

The South Korean government recognized Kim's contributions to expanding domestic investment and strengthening the competitiveness of the advanced materials industry. Kim led 500 billion won ($373 million) in investment in the Gumi and Saemangeum national industrial complexes over two years beginning in 2023, efforts credited with boosting domestic production capacity and advancing high-value-added development in advanced materials.

Toray Advanced Materials Korea expanded its supply capacity at the Gumi complex by adding its 13th and 14th MLCC film lines, a third carbon fiber line, and a second meta-aramid fiber line. The company was also recognized for broadening its advanced materials supply chain at the Saemangeum complex, where it added a second PPS production line.

"We will work to enhance the competitiveness of South Korea's advanced materials industry through continued investment and research and development," Kim said.
