Partnership to cover FMV game development, global marketing
Com2uS Holdings and Soop have joined forces to target the live-action interactive game market. The two companies plan to expand their collaboration to cover game development, global publishing and content production using streamer intellectual property.
Com2uS Holdings announced Tuesday that it had signed an MOU with Soop (co-CEOs Choi Young-woo and Lee Min-won) to cooperate on full motion video (FMV) game projects. The signing ceremony, held Thursday, was attended by Son Kyung-hyun of Com2uS Holdings and Hong Ki-seok of Soop, along with other senior officials from both companies.
FMV games combine live-action footage featuring real actors with interactive elements that change based on player choices. The genre delivers the immersive feel of watching a film or drama series while letting players shape the story themselves.
Com2uS Holdings had also signed a three-way agreement with Soop and live-action interactive game developer Monster Guide for the development and global publishing of a new FMV title. The three companies plan to combine their respective strengths in game development, publishing and content to release a differentiated new title.
Com2uS Holdings said the latest MOU is intended to deepen the strategic partnership with Soop built on that earlier three-party publishing deal. The two companies plan to work together across multiple areas, including FMV game development and publishing, global marketing and market expansion, joint development and expansion of game IP, and streamer-linked content planning.
Com2uS Holdings expects the combination of its global game publishing capabilities and Soop's streamer and fandom ecosystem to maximize the business impact of the partnership.
"This will be an opportunity to strengthen our market competitiveness in the FMV game sector by combining the strengths of both companies," Son said. "We will present FMV games that merge streaming platforms with interactive content and create new growth opportunities in the global market."
Hong, head of Soop's social streamer business division, said the agreement "will serve as a turning point for expanding the potential uses of streamer IP into the gaming space." Hong added that the collaboration with Com2uS Holdings would deliver new content experiences for both streamers and users.
