Event promotes healthy lifestyles and community unity
Hampyeong-gun in South Jeolla Province has successfully wrapped up a community-wide health walking event at Hampyeong Expo Park, the venue for the 2026 Gukyang Festival, drawing an enthusiastic response from participants.
The county said Wednesday that the event took place Tuesday at Hampyeong Expo Park and the surrounding Susanbong area.
The event was organized to mark the 2026 Gukyang Festival, bringing together residents and festival visitors to walk, promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen community bonds.
Before the walk began, the county's public health center led warm-up exercises and provided guidance on proper walking posture. A health promotion campaign also ran alongside the event, raising awareness of the center's key programs on smoking cessation, nutrition and physical activity.
Participants set off from the main stage at Hampyeong Expo Park and walked an approximately 2-kilometer route through the Susanbong Cheonjigil trail, a barefoot clay path and Hampyeongcheonji Bridge before returning to the main stage.
Hampyeong-gun County Mayor Lee Nam-o said he hoped the walk through the festival grounds, the Susanbong trail and the clay path gave participants a chance to heal both body and mind. "We will continue to do our best to create a healthy environment where people can enjoy exercise as part of their everyday lives," he said.
