Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Gang-seok is personally visiting 18 reconstruction and redevelopment associations in the district to review project progress and accelerate urban renewal work.

Songpa-gu said it is holding a two-week "on-site progress meeting" with 18 local reconstruction and redevelopment associations from Friday through Nov. 13.

The initiative covers 15 reconstruction projects involving complexes of 500 units or more and three redevelopment projects. District office staff will visit each association's office directly to meet with association officials and project consultants, reviewing progress at each stage and gathering firsthand accounts of difficulties on the ground.

The meetings will focus particularly on identifying administrative obstacles that arise during project execution, providing administrative guidance on areas requiring improvement, and supporting smooth communication and decision-making among association members.

Since the launch of the ninth elected-term administration, Songpa-gu has been moving quickly to process permits and approvals for major urban renewal projects.

The first project approved under the ninth term was the project implementation plan for Jamsil Jugong Complex 5, which had been pursuing reconstruction for more than 20 years. The district then completed the process of establishing a maintenance plan and designating a maintenance zone for Jangmi Apartment on July 2.

More recently, the district has continued its fast-track approach by processing association establishment approvals for Songpa Hanyang 1st Apartment and Garak Uchang Apartment within three days of each application being filed.

Through the progress meetings, the district plans to provide tailored administrative support suited to the stage and circumstances of each association's project, while minimizing factors that cause delays. The district also aims to shorten the overall timeline for urban renewal projects in line with the Seoul Metropolitan Government's standard processing deadlines, thereby supporting housing supply.

"In the ninth elected term, we will push reconstruction and redevelopment forward even more swiftly to build a Songpa that stands in a class of its own," District Mayor Seo said. "We will look directly into the difficulties associations face on the ground and spare no administrative support needed to keep these long-awaited renewal projects moving at pace."
