Mercury Optical Communications, a fiber optic cable specialist, will move its headquarters from Incheon to Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, the city announced Tuesday.
The move marks the first corporate relocation secured by Mungyeong under its ninth elected administration.
The company plans to occupy a site of about 29,700 square meters in the Gongpyeong-dong area of Mungyeong.
City officials said they had reached out directly to the company and persuaded it to relocate as part of the administration's core initiative to attract businesses to the region.
Details on the scale of investment and the number of jobs to be created will be disclosed after the two sides sign an MOU later this year.
"We will actively remove obstacles to corporate investment and improve the conditions companies need to grow, creating an investment environment that draws more businesses and drives regional economic growth and job creation," Mungyeong Mayor Kim Hak-hong said.
