The management and union of the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities took people with severe disabilities from the local community on a fall outing Tuesday.

The agency held a cultural activity program with people with severe disabilities from Seongnam's Hanmaeum Welfare Center at the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

The event was organized to give people with severe disabilities — who have relatively few opportunities for outdoor activities — a chance to engage in cultural experiences, while also fostering mutual understanding and communication between participants and agency staff.

A total of 67 people took part, including agency President Lee Jong-seong, union chairperson Kim Ji-eun, agency employees, and people with disabilities and staff from Hanmaeum Welfare Center. Agency employees were paired one-on-one with 25 people with developmental disabilities to tour the folk village and enjoy its recreational facilities together.

The agency's KEAD Didimdo-ri volunteer corps and the labor union both participated. Working with Hanmaeum Welfare Center, the agency prepared a program tailored to the needs of participants with disabilities and ensured safe activities throughout the day.

"I hope this outing becomes a joyful memory for the participants with disabilities and a meaningful time for everyone to understand and connect with one another," Lee said. "We will continue our social contribution activities so that the agency's management and union can grow together with the local community, and so that people with disabilities can enjoy a variety of experiences and opportunities in their daily lives."
