Hanyang Securities said Tuesday it confirmed that unauthorized access to an external groupware solution on Thursday had led to the leak of some data.

The exposed information totals 31 records: 15 customer records, two employee-related records and 14 general personal information records.

The leaked personal data includes names, account numbers, contact details, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, resident registration numbers and driver's license numbers. The specific items vary by record, and three of the 31 records are confirmed to contain resident registration numbers.

Upon detecting the breach, Hanyang Securities immediately blocked external access and completed an emergency security patch with the groupware solution provider. The company is currently investigating the full scope of the leak and the circumstances of the incident. It has filed reports with the relevant authorities and individually notified all affected customers.

"We take this matter with the utmost seriousness and sincerely apologize to our customers for the concern this has caused," a Hanyang Securities official said. "We will conduct a more thorough review of our security management framework and do everything possible to prevent a recurrence."

Hacking and personal data breach incidents have been occurring in rapid succession across the financial investment sector. Daishin Securities disclosed Wednesday that the personal and credit information of 38,490 customers had been leaked. A breach was also confirmed at Mirae Asset Global Investments, where unauthorized external access to some of its business systems resulted in a data leak.
