Dongjak-gu in Seoul held its first party-government consultative meeting since the launch of the ninth elected term, bringing together local politicians and district officials to coordinate support for key projects and secure national and city government funding.

The district held separate consultative meetings with the Democratic Party of Korea's Dongjak-gap and Dongjak-eul constituency committees at the district office conference room Monday, announcing the results Tuesday. The sessions focused on the direction of major projects and ways to resolve pressing local issues.

A total of 42 people attended, including Dongjak-gu District Mayor Ryu Sam-young and Choi Gi-il, acting chair of the Dongjak-eul constituency committee, along with Seoul Metropolitan Council and district council members, senior party officials and district office staff. The Dongjak-gap session began at 9 a.m. and the Dongjak-eul session at 11:30 a.m.

The agenda was divided by constituency.

For the Dongjak-gap area, discussions covered the construction of a Han River tower near Yongyangbongjeojeong, development of the Noryangjin district office site and the creation of public amenity facilities at the Korea Meteorological Administration's Seoul office building.

For the Dongjak-eul area, the main agenda items were the development of a public parking lot at the Heukseok garage site, construction of a youth comprehensive education center and a Han River waterfront landmark project.

Participants focused particularly on strategies for securing the national and city government funding needed to advance the projects. Officials and local politicians agreed to present a united front in negotiations with central government ministries and the Seoul Metropolitan Government to lock in the necessary financing.

The district plans to hold the party-government consultative meetings on a regular basis and strengthen communication with political circles and relevant agencies.

A separate policy consultative meeting with the People Power Party's Dongjak-eul membership committee was also held Tuesday, as part of efforts to build a cross-party cooperation framework.

"Close communication and cooperation between the party and the district administration are essential to successfully delivering long-sought community projects and creating changes that residents can feel," District Mayor Ryu said. "We will push ahead without delay to secure national and city funding and advance our key projects."
