Won-shot Hansol (real name Kim Han-sol), a visually impaired YouTuber, repeatedly expressed gratitude to railway staff and members of the public who helped during a solo outing.
The video, titled "I went all the way to Daejeon alone to buy my girlfriend a gift, and this happened — I nearly cried," was recently posted to Won-shot Hansol's YouTube channel.
In the video, Won-shot Hansol books a train ticket to Daejeon with the help of a producer and then sets off alone to buy a gift for a girlfriend.
While riding the subway, a fellow passenger offered a seat. "There were so many people that I was standing in a corner, but someone gave up their seat for me — I was so grateful," Won-shot Hansol said. "Still, I have the route to Seoul Station memorized, so it's not too difficult."
Boarding a train alone for the first time in 10 years, Won-shot Hansol received walking assistance from a railway worker and made it safely to a seat. "I got on without any trouble," Won-shot Hansol said. "Because I'm visually impaired, if I ask, staff will guide me all the way to my seat."
After arriving at Daejeon Station, Won-shot Hansol received further help from railway workers, social service workers and passersby. Staff at Sungsimdang also proactively offered assistance, guiding Won-shot Hansol through the store to purchase bread and cake.
Won-shot Hansol said "thank you" repeatedly each time help was offered, and on the way back to Daejeon Station told a railway worker, "I'm sorry for the trouble and so grateful." After boarding the return train safely, Won-shot Hansol said once more, "Everyone helped me, and I made it back to the station without any problems."
The video's release has also brought renewed attention to a clip YouTuber Park Wi posted to his own channel in August.
At the time, Park Wi shared CCTV footage showing a wheelchair wheel catching on the foot of a social service worker who was securing a boarding ramp as Park Wi disembarked from a KTX train, causing the worker to fall.
After the footage was made public, controversy arose over the circumstances of the incident, and Park Wi's apparent attitude of blaming the social service worker also drew criticism.
Won-shot Hansol's video, posted Thursday, had accumulated 3.3 million views by Monday morning.
