South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the fourth session of its Summit Economic Events Outcome Management Task Force on Monday at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul. The meeting was chaired by Trade Negotiation Chief Park Jeong-seong and attended by five major business organizations and KOTRA, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.

The session was convened to conduct a comprehensive review of follow-through on summit economic diplomacy and to strengthen support aimed at converting business opportunities generated during state visits into concrete export and procurement contracts.

Participants reviewed key outcomes and progress by country, covering government-to-government cooperation, business-to-business contracts and the resolution of difficulties faced by Korean companies operating abroad — all stemming from summit economic diplomacy.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Enterprises Federation, Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the Korea Federation of Middle Market Enterprises, the Korea Federation of SMEs and KOTRA presented updates on follow-up support activities, including business roundtables and one-on-one export consultation sessions, and shared successful cases of public-private cooperation.

Notable achievements highlighted at the meeting included Posco Future M's groundbreaking of a cathode material factory in Vietnam — a project valued at 357 billion won ($267 million) — the opening of a Korea-US shipbuilding cooperation center, and Artbox's supply contract with Kazakhstan worth $3 million.

"The key is to follow through to the end so that the economic cooperation opportunities opened up through summit economic diplomacy translate directly into real export and procurement results for our companies," Park said. "The public and private sectors will work as one team and spare no effort in post-event management and resolving corporate difficulties."
