Daejeon city government has received a prime minister's commendation in recognition of its contributions to the successful conduct of large-scale statistical surveys carried out from 2024 to 2026.

The city received the institutional commendation at the 2026 Statistical Survey Promotion Merit Awards ceremony, held Monday at the Government Daejeon Complex.

Also honored at the ceremony, Lee Seong-gyu, an administrative officer and head of the accounting division at Daejeon's Jung-gu office, received a presidential commendation, while Park Mi-young, an administrative officer with the city, received a prime minister's commendation.

The recipients were recognized for their cooperation in, and contributions to improving the accuracy of, major national statistical surveys conducted every five years — including the population and housing census, the agricultural and fishery census, and the economic census.

Lee Gil-ju, Daejeon's AI innovation director, said the city would work harder to link statistical data with AI-driven municipal initiatives and enhance its use in policy-making. "We will continue to do our best to advance statistical survey practices and pursue shared growth with autonomous districts through communication and cooperation between the city and its districts," Lee said.
