Samsung's first clip-type earbuds off to strong start
Priced at 299,000 won
Samsung Electronics' first clip-type wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds On, have sold out their initial online stock just three days after launch.
Industry sources said Sunday that the initial online supply of the Galaxy Buds On, which Samsung Electronics released Tuesday, was sold out as of Friday afternoon. The earbuds are currently out of stock on major online retail channels including Samsung.com, Coupang Inc and Naver, and can only be purchased through pre-order delivery. Samsung.com lists the estimated delivery date as starting Dec. 8.
The Buds On is the first product in the Galaxy Buds lineup to feature a clip-type design that hooks onto the outer ear. Because the earbuds do not block the ear canal, wearers can hear ambient sounds, making them suited to consumers who enjoy outdoor activities such as running. The earbuds are priced at 299,000 won ($224) and are available in a single black color.
The clip-type design reduces discomfort during extended wear, and the open-ear fit allows wearers to remain naturally aware of their surroundings. A shape-memory alloy flexes to conform to the shape of the ear for a secure, even fit, providing comfort both in daily use and during high-movement activities.
Through Dec. 30, Samsung Electronics will offer customers who purchase the Galaxy Buds On two coupons for 30 percent off Galaxy Buds accessories on Samsung.com.
