Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province has opened a newly built public health center aimed at strengthening citizen-centered healthcare services.

The city held an opening ceremony Friday at the third-floor conference room of the Gimcheon Public Health Center, with about 350 residents in attendance.

The mayor, Assembly members and representatives from related organizations attended to mark the facility's new beginning and reaffirm their commitment to advancing public health and improving residents' well-being.

The ceremony featured a pre-event performance, a project overview, commemorative and congratulatory remarks, a ribbon-cutting and a facility tour. Health experience booths highlighting each of the center's programs were also set up and drew strong interest from attendees.

The new center relocates and replaces the previous public health facility, consolidating the Central Health Branch, the Mental Health Welfare Center and the Dementia Care Center under one roof for greater convenience.

The building covers a total floor area of 12,396 square meters across one below-ground floor and four above-ground floors. It will offer a range of public health programs, including tailored health management across different life stages, chronic disease prevention and management, infectious disease response, mental health promotion, and dementia prevention and care.

"The opening of the new Gimcheon Public Health Center is a meaningful step toward keeping a closer watch on residents' health and providing better healthcare services," a city official said. "We will do our utmost to ensure that all citizens can enjoy healthy and happy lives."
