Seven district centers in Gangdong, Gangseo, Mapo and beyond complete upgrades
New equipment and programs tailored to each neighborhood's users
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul AI Foundation have revamped seven Seoul AI Digital Learning Centers across Gangdong-gu, Gangseo-gu, Mapo-gu, Dobong-gu, Dongjak-gu, Seongdong-gu and Guro-gu, reconfiguring them as hands-on experience and practice spaces.
The city said Saturday that the conversion of the hub spaces at all seven district centers is now complete, with AI devices and programs selected to reflect the characteristics of local users at each site.
The Changdong Aurene center in Dobong-gu has been fitted with an AI interview booth and photo booth to help middle-aged residents with job searches, career changes and entrepreneurship, while Gomdallae Senior Welfare Center in Gangseo-gu has received AI brainwave analysis equipment and health-monitoring devices.
The Seongsan 1-dong community center in Mapo-gu, which serves a large number of elderly residents, has strengthened its lifestyle consultation services, offering guidance on smartphone use and how to navigate AI tools and computers.
At Seoul Citizen's University Southeast Campus in Gangdong-gu, visitors can get hands-on with an AI Go-playing robot, a coding robot, a quadruped walking robot and Apple Vision Pro. The Smart Lounge in Guro-gu features an AI drawing robot alongside mental health and virtual reality training equipment.
The two centers that opened this year — at Yongdap Library in Seongdong-gu and the Dongjak-gu district office — are equipped with basic experience devices including an AI Go robot, a HappyTable and a desktop coding robot.
The centers operate weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Evening classes for working adults are also available at the Gangdong and Seongdong hubs and at the Gangnam Gureum Square location. All Seoul residents may attend free of charge by registering by phone or through the Digital Learning Center website.
Jeong Yeong-jun, director of Seoul's Digital City Bureau, said the city would "continue to expand the related infrastructure so that all residents can experience and make use of AI in their everyday lives."
