Volvo Trucks Korea announced Friday that it held its "Zero Accidents Today" highway safe-driving campaign Thursday at the Maesong rest stop on the Mokpo-bound expressway, in partnership with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Expressway Corporation and other organizations.

The campaign was organized amid a rise in traffic accidents involving trucks and passenger vehicles during the autumn travel season, when long-distance driving increases. The event aimed to encourage expressway users to drive safely and to promote a broader culture of road safety.

Volvo Trucks Korea had partnered with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority on a highway safe-driving campaign during last year's service camp period and joined the effort again this year.

About 30 representatives from Volvo Trucks Korea, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Expressway Corporation, the First District Highway Patrol, the Seoul Regional Office of Land Management and the National Freight Mutual Aid Association took part. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, participants held pickets displaying road safety rules, and in the afternoon distributed leaflets, wet wipes and other traffic safety promotional items to rest stop visitors.

Volvo Trucks Korea also ran a zero-accident pledge event on site, presenting commemorative gifts to visitors who signed the pledge. The campaign highlighted safety and a zero-accident vision as core values of the Volvo Trucks brand.

"It is meaningful to take part in the zero-accident safe-driving campaign for the second consecutive year," said Park Gang-seok, chief executive of Volvo Trucks Korea. "We will share the value of safe driving with every driver who stops at the rest stop, and continue to work with public institutions to lead the way in building a safer traffic culture."

Meanwhile, Volvo Trucks Korea has expanded its Speed Limit Watch traffic safety campaign — previously focused on children — to include senior citizens this year. From Oct. 21 to Oct. 23, the company conducted traffic safety education sessions for 300 senior citizens and 400 children in Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility activities.
