Convenience store GS25 on Friday suspended sales of the "Han Jeongseon Pistachio Chapssal-tteok" after the product failed to meet coliform bacteria standards and specifications.
GS25 sent an official notice to store owners Friday directing them to halt sales and dispose of remaining inventory. The notice also instructed stores to issue immediate refunds to customers requesting returns.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety had earlier designated the product for recall and sales suspension after detecting coliform bacteria above the permissible limit in units manufactured on Oct. 23.
The product is a collaboration between Loromelro, a dessert brand under Loro F&B, and dessert brand Han Jeongseon. Daily sales had surpassed 330 million won ($247,000), breaking the record set by the first collaboration product, the "Han Jeongseon Yogurt Chapssal-tteok."
