Hanwha Investment & Securities announced Friday that it has signed a strategic partnership with Chainlink, a blockchain data infrastructure firm, to build a global digital asset platform.

Chainlink, headquartered in the United States, is a global infrastructure company that delivers real-time financial data to blockchain systems and connects different blockchains with one another.

Major financial institutions and digital asset companies around the world use Chainlink's technology to transparently verify asset values and securely transfer assets across networks.

Through the partnership, Hanwha Investment has adopted Chainlink's data standards technology and its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the infrastructure backbone of the digital asset platform it is building.

Chainlink's data standards technology is a technical framework that pulls financial data — including market prices, interest rates and reserve status — onto the blockchain without distortion or manipulation, recording and verifying it in a consistent format. CCIP is Chainlink's common protocol designed to move assets and data securely between different blockchains.

Building on this foundation, Hanwha Investment plans to tokenize high-quality real-world assets for distribution in global markets and establish the infrastructure needed to verify asset values and use them as collateral.

The firm also plans to create an environment in which assets can move across networks through a single connection, eliminating the need to build separate integrations for each network.

To put the partnership into practice, the two companies will form a joint working group to pursue three initiatives: establishing institutional on-chain infrastructure and custody integration systems that meet compliance and custody requirements; setting valuation and reserve verification standards for the use of real-world assets (RWA) as collateral; and developing compliance and technology standards aligned with South Korea's STO regime.

Ahn In-seong, executive vice president of Hanwha Investment's digital division, said Chainlink is "a core strategic partner with whom we will open a new financial market — one where high-quality assets are tokenized, issued and distributed in global markets and used as collateral." Ahn added that Hanwha Investment intends to "build an RWA market that bridges Korea and the world" through the collaboration.

Hanwha Investment earlier made a strategic investment of about 30 billion won ($22.5 million) in Digital Asset, a blockchain infrastructure firm specializing in global finance, in July. Digital Asset, headquartered in New York, operates Canton Network, an open, finance-focused blockchain adopted by major global financial institutions including Goldman Sachs and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation.
