Dongguk University professor Park Yu-heon receives association's academic award
The Korea Food Industry Association participated in the 2026 Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition International Conference, held Wednesday through Friday at the Jeju International Convention Center.
At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, the association presented its Academic Award — along with a trophy and prize money — to Dongguk University Professor Park Yu-heon. Park was recognized for significant contributions to the international standardization of food safety technology and the establishment of a scientific foundation for future foods through research in food safety and novel food materials.
The association also hosted a session titled "GMO Foods in the Age of Biotechnology: Nutrition, Safety, and Communication Strategies for the Food Industry." The session was designed to share research trends on GMO safety assessment frameworks and food and nutrition security, while exploring ways to improve consumer understanding and foster informed public communication through accurate information.
The international conference was held under the theme "Reinventing Food and Nutrition: Advancing from Core Science to Expanded Horizons toward 2050." Domestic and international experts in food, nutrition and science gathered to discuss the latest research trends and the future direction of the food industry.
