Keimyung University has officially declared a university-wide AI transformation (AX), committing to integrate artificial intelligence across its education, research and administrative operations.

The university held an "AI Vision Declaration Ceremony" on Wednesday at the Unjae Room of Uiyang Hall on its Seongseo Campus, unveiling the slogan "A University Transformed by AI, Keimyung Opening the Future" and laying out its vision and roadmap for the transition.

The ceremony served as the centerpiece of "KEIMYUNG AI WEEK 2026," which opened the same day. The program featured a commemorative address by President Shin Il-hee, congratulatory remarks by Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Kang Eun-hee, an AI vision declaration by Executive Vice President for Management Yoon Woo-seok, and a presentation on the AX transition plan by AI and Information Director Lee Jong-ha.

Keimyung University views AI as a core driver of its future competitiveness and plans to expand AI use in its curriculum while introducing AI-based support systems for research and administrative work. The goal is to build an integrated education and research environment in which all university members use AI as a matter of course.

The university said it aims to go beyond simply adopting technology, placing particular emphasis on human-centered values.

"AI must be a tool that elevates human value and expands our own potential," President Shin said. "As technology advances, it becomes ever more important to protect the unique identity and dignity of human beings."

An international AI cooperation forum followed the ceremony, with five researchers from three Asian countries — Uzbekistan, Japan and Kyrgyzstan — taking part. Participants discussed avenues for international collaboration on topics including medical AI, environmental monitoring, virtual reality-based education and language AI ecosystems.

Meanwhile, KEIMYUNG AI WEEK 2026 runs through Friday, with events including an AI student quiz competition, an AI-based startup contest and a hackathon. An "AI Challenger Zone" will also operate at the fountain plaza in front of Dongsan Library, offering hands-on AI technology experiences and an exhibition of generative AI works.
