Daegu Urban Development Corp. has been recognized for its crime-prevention infrastructure at the Ansim Cheongaraem The Young Happy Housing complex.
The corporation held a plaque ceremony at the complex on Tuesday to mark the certification.
The certification was awarded by the Daegu East Police Precinct in September, recognizing efforts to eliminate blind spots for crime — including the installation of high-definition CCTV cameras in the complex's parking lots and children's playground, along with emergency call buttons integrated into a unified monitoring system.
Since 2020, the corporation has been the first in the country to pursue a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) program for public rental housing, with a focus on protecting single-person households and other groups vulnerable to crime.
Crime-prevention design has been incorporated from the earliest stages of development, and safety facilities have been expanded to include purchased rental housing units as well.
Those efforts earned the corporation recognition as an outstanding CPTED institution at the seventh Korea Crime Prevention Awards in 2022, where it received a commendation from the Korean National Police Agency commissioner general.
The Ansim Cheongaraem The Young Happy Housing complex has also made strides in energy management, receiving an AA rating in July under the Energy Comma residential complex certification program administered by the Korea Power Exchange.
"We will do our utmost to create a safe and comfortable residential environment so that residents can live their daily lives free from anxiety," said Lee Jae-yong, president of Daegu Urban Development Corp.
