North Gyeongsang Province announced Friday that Gyeongju Expo Grand Park has been renamed Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park and will be open free of charge for 10 days through Nov. 8.

The province changed the park's name to preserve and leverage the achievements of the 2025 APEC Summit as a regional tourism asset and to reflect the area's status as the summit's host city.

An opening ceremony will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the main gate of Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park. About 100 people are expected to attend — including officials from North Gyeongsang Province, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly, Gyeongju City, and tourism-related agencies and industry groups — for the unveiling of the new nameplate.

During the free admission period, anyone may enter the park without charge.

North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo said Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park "will be a space that remembers the success of the 2025 APEC Summit and carries its value into the future."

Meanwhile, the province is also pursuing plans to open an APEC Summit memorial hall and develop a climate-response themed forest, scheduled for December 2026. The park is to be operated as both a symbolic space preserving the memory of the summit and a flagship tourism destination.
