The Korea Overseas Construction Association and Hansung University signed an MOU Thursday at the university to expand industry-academia cooperation and uncover market intelligence in the overseas construction sector.

The agreement is designed to combine Hansung University's global human and academic resources with the association's specialized expertise and networks in overseas construction, with the aim of gathering on-the-ground foreign market information and pursuing convergence projects across multiple fields.

Under the MOU, the two institutions agreed to cooperate on: gathering, analyzing and exchanging overseas market information using international students and specialists from the university's graduate real estate program; promoting education, research and industry-academia cooperation using overseas construction industry and project data along with member company networks; identifying convergence K-content and cooperative projects linking real estate, beauty and fashion with overseas construction and urban development; sharing information, content and human networks; and jointly organizing seminars, forums and educational programs.

Korea Overseas Construction Association President Han Man-hee said the partnership would "expand networks with overseas civil servants and professionals, and connect the academic strengths in promising fields such as urban development and real estate with the industry to uncover new opportunities for overseas expansion." Hansung University President Lee Chang-won said the university would "leverage its global human and academic resources to develop an industry-academia cooperation model linking overseas construction with diverse industries."

The two institutions plan to move forward with concrete overseas market research and convergence cooperation projects, and to steadily expand collaboration across education, research and joint events.

Meanwhile, the Korea Overseas Construction Association has been stepping up support for domestic construction companies seeking to expand overseas, including sharing updates on urban development and smart city projects under way around the world.
