Customers can now access deposits, withdrawals and account inquiries at more than 2,400 post offices across the country
Service expected to improve financial access for elderly and other vulnerable groups
Busan Bank launched a shared financial services program through the nationwide post office network Thursday.
Under the new service, Busan Bank customers can conduct basic banking transactions — including deposits, withdrawals and account inquiries — at more than 2,400 post offices across the country. Post office ATMs will also offer reduced fees depending on the transaction type and time of use, the bank said, adding that the move is expected to significantly improve convenience for customers.
The service extends beyond Busan and South Gyeongsang Province to post offices nationwide, which the bank said should help improve financial access for customers who have difficulty visiting branches, including the elderly and other financially underserved groups.
Earlier, Busan Bank signed a business cooperation agreement on Aug. 28 with Korea Post under the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute and Gwangju Bank on the joint use of the post office financial counter network, and has since been building the IT systems needed to launch the service.
