Safe manufacturer Sunil Safe invited about 1,200 local residents and customers to a special film screening to mark its 55th anniversary.

The company held the event Saturday at Megabox Ilsan KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, featuring a screening of "Still Brilliant," a film starring actor Kim Hye-ja, Sunil Safe announced Thursday.

Guests included residents of Paju, local business owners, students, officials from local governments and related organizations, and Sunil Safe customers and employees' families. The event was organized to express gratitude to long-standing customers while sharing cultural content with the broader community.

"Still Brilliant" centers on the experiences of Korean "comfort women" forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during the colonial period and opened Sunday. The film follows Sunok, who reunites with a childhood friend after 60 years, conveying a message of memory and consolation through the story of two girls who preserved their friendship amid a painful history. Director Song Il-gon helmed the film, and Kim Hye-ja takes the role of Sunok in a return to the screen after nine years. Sunil Safe said it selected the film so that "audiences across generations could watch together and find common ground."

Before the screening, director Song and cast members greeted the audience on stage. Song said he was "deeply grateful that so many people joined the special screening even on a holiday." A surprise event was also held to celebrate Kim Hye-ja's birthday, with the audience singing together in celebration.

The theater lobby featured a photo zone recreating the film's atmosphere and a themed photo zone carrying a message from Kim. A social media verification event was held for moviegoers, with Sunil Safe products offered as prizes. All attendees received commemorative gifts including eco bags.

One attendee said the film left a deep impression. "I feel grateful to our ancestors who made today's brilliance possible despite such painful history," the attendee said. "I also want to express my thanks to those who made this wonderful film and to Sunil Safe for the invitation."

Founded in 1972, Sunil Safe grew into a domestic safe manufacturer with a focus on office safes. The company later entered the home interior safe market and expanded its sales network to department stores, home shopping channels and large retail outlets.

More recently, Sunil Safe has moved into the security appliance sector, introducing smart safes and camera safes equipped with Internet of Things technology. The company is also pursuing new business opportunities, including built-in safes integrated into dressing room furniture for construction companies and secure storage centers within community facilities.

Sunil Safe said it plans to use the screening as a springboard to deepen ties with customers and the community, and to continue social contribution activities through cultural sharing.

Chairperson Kim Young-suk said Sunil Safe's growth "has been possible thanks to the unwavering trust and support of our customers and community over the years," adding that the company hoped the special screening "offered warm comfort and unforgettable memories to those worn down by daily life." Kim added that just as a safe protects customers' valuable assets, "a company must also safeguard the precious everyday lives and happiness of its customers," and pledged to continue cultural sharing activities that express gratitude and foster growth alongside customers and the community.
