"Come to Wando, walk barefoot and take care of your health."
A barefoot walking festival will be held Saturday at Myeongsasimni beach in Shin Ji, Wando-gun, South Jeolla Province.
Wando-gun said the event, themed "Walk the Sea, Fill Your Health," will give participants a chance to refresh body and mind along the sandy and clay paths of Myeongsasimni.
The walking course begins in front of the Wando Marine Healing Center, continues to the far end of the beach and then loops back to the starting point.
Participants who collect stamps at three checkpoints and complete the full course will receive local specialty products.
Side events will include a charity bazaar, a food zone and hands-on experience booths. A health promotion pavilion will also be on hand, offering blood pressure, blood sugar and body composition checks, along with guidance on proper walking technique.
