Q3 2026 earnings conference call held
HBM4 share of HBM sales expands to 60%
HBM market share reaches level on par with DRAM share
Samsung Electronics said sales of its sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory chip, HBM4, more than tripled in the third quarter compared with the second quarter.
Kim Jae-jun, executive vice president and head of Samsung Electronics' memory strategy and marketing division, said during the company's third-quarter earnings conference call Thursday that HBM4's share of total HBM sales had expanded to 60%. Kim said the result was in line with the HBM4 sales targets the company had outlined at its second-quarter conference call.
Samsung Electronics had earlier said it aimed to raise its HBM market share in the second half of this year to a level on par with its overall DRAM market share of around 40%.
Kim said Thursday that the company appeared to have already achieved that goal. "It seems we have already met our target of securing an HBM market share equivalent to our DRAM market share in the second half of this year," Kim said, suggesting HBM market share had already climbed to around 40%.
Kim also said the seventh-generation HBM4E was on track. "HBM4E, which we shipped samples of for the first time in the world in May, is receiving positive feedback from customers," Kim said.
