Public-private regulatory review panel meets Thursday
Card payments for electricity bills above 20 kW on agenda
Ulsan city will hold its 2026 Public-Private Joint Regulatory Review Panel meeting Thursday at 2 p.m. in the situation room on the seventh floor of Ulsan City Hall, together with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency's Ulsan regional headquarters, the Ulsan Architects Association, the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ulsan Small Business Owners Federation. The meeting aims to identify unreasonable regulations felt on the ground and explore ways to improve them.
The meeting will take up five regulatory improvement tasks as agenda items, with discussions expected to cover on-the-ground problems, the need for improvement, and the direction of reform.
The five items on the agenda are: expanding card payment options for electricity bills exceeding 20 kilowatts; requesting an expansion of the permitted period for special extended working hours in the manufacturing sector; rationalizing approval procedures for field-condition reports in government-funded remodeling projects; improving design fee standards and settlement procedures for government-funded construction projects; and requesting that transitional relief measures be prepared in connection with amendments to the Act on the Rational Use of Energy.
For tasks identified at the meeting as requiring regulatory reform, Ulsan city plans to submit recommendations to the Ministry of Interior and Safety and to continue consultations aimed at increasing the acceptance rate among central government ministries.
Last year, the public-private joint regulatory review panel identified 10 improvement tasks, resolving three at the city level and submitting three to the central government.
