Yu Si-min claims Lee, like Yoon, is dismantling his own camp
Kim says he was once angered by Yu's remarks but no longer feels the need to comment
Minti07 should not be viewed through a factional lens, Kim says
Democratic Party of Korea leader Kim Min-seok on Thursday pushed back against writer Yu Si-min's call to dismantle "the Lee Jae Myung camp," saying the best response was restraint. "The best approach is not to answer divisive language with more divisive language — to use language that is at least a little less divisive, or to exercise restraint so that such issues do not get blown out of proportion," Kim said. "I think that is what is needed, and that is what I intend to do."
Kim made the remarks during a phone-in segment on the Democratic Party's YouTube channel Minti07 that morning, responding to comments Yu made Wednesday on the YouTube program "Park Si-young TV." Yu had said, "The Yoon Suk Yeol beetle dismantled his own house entirely — and now the current government and President Lee Jae Myung are doing exactly the same."
Kim acknowledged that Yu's past remarks had once gotten under his skin. "When we were holding the party leadership election, I heard various things Yu was saying — things said from outside the party — and I was quite angry," Kim said. "But now that the same kinds of remarks keep coming, I don't think I need to comment on each one anymore."
Kim also rebuffed Yu's claim that Minti07 was a vehicle for dismantling the camp rather than unifying it.
"Isn't Minti the party's official channel?" Kim said. "I don't think there is much disagreement over the fact that a political party launched an official broadcast and got it off the ground relatively quickly."
Kim went on to say the channel did not need to be viewed through a factional or sectarian lens. "I don't think we need to look at even this kind of thing from some factional or clique-based perspective," Kim added.
