The 2026 Gunwi Barbecue Festival opens Saturday in Gunwi-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, bringing together food, performances and hands-on activities in one venue as autumn deepens.
The Gunwi Culture and Tourism Foundation announced Thursday that the two-day festival will run Saturday through Sunday at Samguk Yusa Theme Park.
The event will feature more than 40 vendors offering a wide range of food, including Korean beef and pork grilling experiences, barbecue, craft beer and desserts.
At the Guiplezon grilling area, a "meat platter" — comprising Korean beef sirloin, fan-blade cut and brisket alongside samgyeopsal, neck and shoulder cuts of Korean pork — will be sold in limited quantities each day.
The food zone and food truck zone will offer whole-pig barbecue, clay-pot barbecue and other meat dishes, as well as tteokbokki, takoyaki, churros and more.
Performances will be a highlight of the festival. Ballad singer Lin takes the stage on opening day Saturday, while trot music singer Yoyomi closes out the festival Sunday. A variety of genre performances and a roving parade are also planned.
Families will find plenty to enjoy as well. A large inflatable bounce zone and hands-on workshops — including sock-yarn keyring making, insect-repellent necklace crafting and barbecue skewer clay modeling — will be on offer, along with access to the Ainuri Kids Park and Media Art Center.
Admission to Samguk Yusa Theme Park will be discounted by up to 50 percent during the festival, and a cashback promotion using Gunwi Love Gift Certificates will also be held. A free shuttle bus will run roughly every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. between the CU rotary and the theme park's main entrance to help visitors get around.
Detailed schedules are available on the official Instagram account of Samguk Yusa Theme Park. Inquiries can be directed to the Gunwi Culture and Tourism Foundation.
"We hope families and couples will create special autumn memories at this festival, where gastronomy, culture and hands-on experiences all come together," a foundation official said.
