Suseong-gu in Daegu won the grand prize in the basic local government (autonomous district) category at the 2026 Korea SNS Awards, the district announced Wednesday.
Now in its 16th year, the Korea SNS Awards is hosted and organized by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, among others.
This year's evaluation combined quantitative assessments of social media activity and influence with expert judging and public voting. More than 1,000 residents cast votes for Suseong-gu, contributing to the win.
The district drew strong public response by using its official mascot "Ddubi" to deliver local government news in an accessible and accurate way, and by tailoring its promotional strategy to short-form content and the distinct characteristics of each platform.
Suseong-gu plans to diversify its promotional content and strengthen two-way communication with residents by incorporating AI technology and trending content formats.
The district has participated in the awards every year since 2017, earning the excellence prize from 2017 to 2019, the grand prize in 2020 and 2021, the excellence prize in 2023, the grand prize in 2024, and the excellence prize in 2025.
"It is meaningful to have achieved results on social media, an important communications channel for direct engagement with residents," Suseong-gu District Mayor Kim Dae-kwon said. "We will continue to communicate actively through tailored content that provides real, practical help to residents."
