The Startup Education Center at Gyeongil University held the preliminary round of the 15th G-Star University Startup Competition and presented awards to winning teams at a ceremony in the campus library seminar room on Wednesday.

The competition was co-hosted by Gyeongil University and the North Gyeongsang Creative Economy Innovation Center, with the university's Startup Education Center serving as organizer. It was designed to identify aspiring entrepreneurs with creative startup ideas.

Judges selected a total of six teams: one grand prize winner, one excellence award winner, two merit award winners and two encouragement award winners. Team BAESH, which proposed an AI-based integrated automation platform covering development, infrastructure, deployment, security and operations, took the grand prize, while Team Taste Lab claimed the excellence award.

The merit awards went to teams "Jaserul Goryeo Anja" and "Odd If," while the encouragement awards went to "Physics Sports" and "Divine Korea." The grand prize winner earned a spot in the integrated national finals.

The Startup Education Center supports students at each stage of growth through tailored education and mentoring covering business model development, prototype production and commercialization, aiming to turn student ideas into actual startups.

"I hope this competition gave students a chance to test the potential of their startup ideas and take the leap into entrepreneurship," said Lee Sang-hoon, director of the Startup Education Center. "We will continue to actively support the discovery of outstanding startup teams and the commercialization of their ideas."
