Legal support for Korean firms entering ASEAN markets
Desk housed at local firm AKHH; attorney Lim Beom-sang to serve as resident lead
Lee & Ko has opened the Lee & Ko Indonesia Desk in Jakarta, strengthening its legal support for South Korean companies entering the ASEAN market.
The firm held an opening ceremony for the desk in Jakarta on Friday (local time) and announced the launch Tuesday.
The ceremony was attended by Managing Partner Moon Ho-jun, attorneys Woo Dong-seok, Park Ji-hye, Lim Beom-sang and Kim Jeong-hwa, foreign attorney Ku Sang-won, and representatives from the local partner firm.
The Indonesia Desk is housed within the offices of AKHH (Adnan Kelana Haryanto & Hermanto), a local firm with strengths in corporate advisory and dispute resolution across energy, infrastructure and telecommunications. Attorney Lim Beom-sang, who brings extensive on-the-ground experience and expertise, will serve as the resident lead attorney overseeing operations.
Through the new desk, Lee & Ko plans to provide prompt legal services across a range of areas in Indonesia, including investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution.
"We will deliver legal services closely attuned to local conditions through tight collaboration between Lee & Ko's Seoul headquarters and the Indonesia Desk," Moon said.
Meanwhile, Lee & Ko has consistently expanded its overseas presence since opening a Beijing office in 2005, followed by offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2015 and Hanoi in 2016. After converting to a limited liability partnership in 2018 and opening a Pangyo branch office in 2022, the firm became the first South Korean law firm to surpass 400 billion won ($302 million) in annual sales in 2024, continuing to build its global legal capabilities and market standing.
